Pedagogies and Learning

Dr Lindy Abawi is a senior lecturer and researcher at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia. She has taught in varied classroom contexts from the early years through to Year 12 in both Queensland and Western Australia, and as a tertiary educator for 5 years. She has won teaching awards at both the school and university level and is responsible for the development and management of a large first year practicum based curriculum and pedagogy course undertaken by over 800 students per year. Dr Abawi is the Associate Dean Learning and Teaching for the Faculty of Business, Education, Law and Arts working with colleagues to develop and implement quality teaching practice across the Faculty.

As a Core Team member of the Leadership Research International (LRI) group based at USQ, Dr Abawi has worked across Australia both facilitating school improvement processes and researching in this space. Her personal experiences and passion for schools and improving student outcomes kindled her current research interest in the development of inclusive schools and classrooms. She is continually inspired by the power and passion of teachers and school leaders whose moral purpose drives them to improve outcomes for all students. Through sharing her research findings she aims to ignite this same power and passion in all educators.
